Chief Master Dan Thor
Chief Master Dan Thor has been the chief instructor for the Taos Taekwondo Academy for over 35 years. He is a eighth-degree black belt and internationally-certified Songahm Taekwondo instructor. He has been profiled in The Way of Taekwondo magazine and in the Taos News.
Chief Master Thor has over 45 years of martial arts experience and has been teaching in Taos since he opened the Taos Taekwondo Academy in 1981. He earned his eighth-degree black belt at an international black belt testing in 2009. A year later, he was elevated to chief mastership by Grandmaster Soon Ho Lee at a special Master's Ceremony during the Songahm Taekwondo World Championships. Chief Master Thor is on the board of directors of Team PRIDE, an organization dedicated to preventing juvenile delinquency and promoting education by extending the benefits of martial arts instruction to low-income at-risk children. He also is a Senior Advisor for the American Taekwondo Association's Region 109, which includes New Mexico, Colorado and parts of Kansas.
